COFDM TV reception in a moving vehicle: NOT!
I've been reviewing the manual for my 1seg Japanese handheld low
resolution digital TV. I found this fascinating tidbit. Translated from Japanese, it says that digital TV reception is not expected to work inside moving cars or trains. Nor is digital TV reception expected to work inside buildings, in subway stations, in mountainous terrain,... Basically, anywhere that isn't out in the open with you sitting still. It also turns out that the TV function for Japanese car TVs (which are also GPS navigation systems) is disabled while the engine is running. You're supposed to watch TV in your car only when parked. [Some people have sabotaged that interlock, but it turns out that only analog works at all when the car is is in motion.] -- Mark -- http://panda.com/mrc Democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what to eat for lunch.
