KV-34XBR800 Not Turning On
I've got a Sony KV-34XBR800 that's just about four years old.
Suddenly, when I go to turn it on, the standby light blinks, but the picture and audio never comes on. The standby blinks in sets of six, other times in sets of seven. Then sometimes I'll try to turn it on sometime later and it works fine. Intermittent. Any ideas/suggestions? It's about at the end of its warrantee, and my extended warranty from MackCam is suddenly revealed to be a joke, so I'm hoping this is a minor matter. |

Most common would be a regulator IC, but there are a number of possibilites. You need a Sony ASC who is familiar with these sets to diagnose and repair it. I called the tech who calibrated my set and he told me to never shut the set off with the power button on the set itself, to just use the remote. When the problem you described occurs, he said to simply unplug the set for about 5 minutes and then plug it back in. The tv then works correctly. I've followed his advice and this works for me. Give it a try and let me know if this solves your problem. He told me this is a common problem with Sony HD CRT's. David |

I am not sure why using the remote makes a difference, but it seemed to with the last one that I had in the shop. Turned out to be one of the the regulator contol ICs. Eventually the sets would not start up at all. Leonard -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users.
