Sony user settings...
Greetings,
I recently had an ISF calibration done on my Sony KP-53HS30 rptv. The results were very satisfying. However, I have subsequently readjusted the user settings (brightness, picture, color, hue, sharpness) to be more agreeable to us than the tech's settings. I would now like to make my new user settings the default settings for the setup menu. Can someone tell me how to do this? Thanks! Jim... |

You can change the settings in the service menu but you have to adjust each one there with your consumer settings at the reset level in order to make them the defaults. I would not recommend doing so, as you can do damage messing around in the service menu. Just make the changes in your consumer menu and leave them. What specifically did you change from the ISF settings? Did you discuss your preferences with the calibration specialist? Yes I did discuss user preferences with the ISF tech. However, I found afterwards that different lighting levels in the room necessitated different "default" user (consumer) settings. The problem now is that if I make an ad hoc user adjustment to compensate for an unusual one-time video display, my "default" user settings are lost if I forget to change back to them manually. I have not changed any ISF settings. I understand the dangers in the service menu. Just wanted to simplify returning back to my "default" user settings. Jim... |

What about the ISF user settings did you not like? Did it seem too dark? This is usually the case. How long did you stick with the calibrator's settings before making adjustments? Obviously, the idea is for you to enjoy your viewing, your way. At the same time, when calibration is done right, the set becomes more or less consistent with video standards, which most viewers are not accustomed to and find it too dark. If one can stick with the new settings long enough there's a chance that one can become accustomed to it. The benefit is that being closer to standards, it's also probably closer to what the show/movie director may have intended. But you still have to like it - it's your tv. justsc |
