Not necessarily.

If you were to let a TVL blokey in and he checked your tv, and you haven't
detuned it, sometimes you can still pick up a slight signal. TVL nazi
storm-trooper will then say, "you are able to receive tv broadcast
programmes" and you will be busted.

I have mine detuned to some european standard with secam on all 99 channels
on my TV. I simply use my TV for XBox and Xbox Media Centre.#



Why would you let in the blokey - they have no right of entry unless
they obtain a warrant.

general CARPing (CAmpaign for Real Pedantry), but only if Bollux is the
miscreant - he's an arse badly in need of kicking. Any excuse will do.

Once the UK broadcasts stop, you've probably got more chance of picking
up a signal on some european standard. Unless we're the last to
stop them...

Because some people do. In fact, alot of people do, that is why if you look
in your local paper at the court reports you will see people being done for
no licence all the time. The storm troopers are usually big burly scary
looking people who intimidate and scare the said "guilty" person.

For the amount of crap on T.V at the moment anyone who can get away with
not paying I say good for them. If I thought I could get away with it I
would do the same thing.

If you have a digital box of some sort then yes you will still need a
license.
I am not sure what I will do in the next few years, I will keep watching
T.V until my digital box goes belly up and then I have to th8ink if it
is worth while getting another box and carrying on watching T.V.
I was looking at getting another TV, something like the Samsung CRT, not
so much for the HD, but so I could put my other computer though it and
access the net downstairs. But I again I am not sure about that either.

If my digital box goes belly up, I may give up T.V, apart from my
computer T.V card, stick the card in this machine up here, and record
what I want, stick it on DVD and watch it downstairs. It is difficult
for the T.V gestapo to prove you are using a computer T.V card, then I
would not bother with a license.

I know someone who already does this.

He did not get in here a few years back, he came to the door and I
refused to let him in, he even tried to have a peak, but I closed the
inside door pretty quick. I then told him to leave, to which he said he
ba back. Never heard anything for ages after that.
