LCD RP sets do, most LCD flatpanels do not have user replaceable lights

Somebody on this group claimed that the Sharp LCD flat panels have a
replaceable light. This probably also extends to others, like HP, that use
the Sharp panel. I don't think it is user replaceable. The light on the LCDs
is suppposed to last 50,000 hours.

LCD Question

Last time the service manuals for the Sharp products we sell and service
there was no mention of being able to replace the back lights without
replacing the complete panel assembly.

Isn't there some kind of florescent (sp?) light source in the robust
direct LCD sets?

Most flatpanel LCD's use cold-cathode fluorescent tubes for light. These are
not usually user replaceable, but can be replaced in the shop.

Unlike the hot bulb in the read projection LCD sets, doesn't this
cold-cathode fluorescent tube tend to go on like the Energizer bunny?

Yes... 50,000 hours is pretty nominal.
