Army vs. Navy not in HD?
I read on CBS' website that they are not going to broadcast the Army/Navy

CBS.com stated the SEC championship game will be in HDTV. Im sure that makes
sense on some level, but Army/Navy in HDTV would be very cool. How does that work exactly, is the SEC game on CBS-HD only or on both CBS-HD and CBS? Is the Army/Navy game not going to be televised? Oh well. Go Navy, Beat Army. "Dennis Mayer" wrote in message ... Rich: I checked the GBay, Wi CBS station on Titan TV and the 3PM CBS Army Navy Game is NOT in HiDef.. " How does that work exactly, is the SEC game on CBS-HD only or on both CBS-HD and CBS? Is the Army/Navy game not going to be televised? The SEC Championship Game is a dual telecast at 7:oo pm CST. ( GEAUX TIGERS !!!) Army v Navy a day game. |
If I'm not mistaken, CBS can show one college and one pro game a week in HDTV.
They have a long-standing relationship with the SEC and frequently show their weekly games in HD. With an NFL doubleheader weekend this week - and the SEC championship game - I'm sure there was no way they could do the Army/Navy game in HD. |

Their equipment is limited and was already committed to the SEC and NFL deals. However, I keep reading that this is the year of HDTV in relation to Christmas sales. Makes me wonder if the networks will finally wake up and start producing more HDTV programming. CBS has been the leader so far but their offerings of live sports is very limited. IMHO live sports and other live special events are the showcase of HDTV and the best way to promote the growth of the medium. Until the networks step up and make HDTV production of these events a regular thing we won't see widespread acceptance of HDTV. |
