? Macrovison on Channel four...

Hello,
You may remember my previous posts regarding Sky + and Macrovision.

Well, I have been monitoring the situation and it seems there is only a
problem when I try to backup programmes to my Sony DVD recorder from Channel
four.

Should I contact sky to say I have a faulty 160 sky plus or is it intended
do you think?

Let me know if u know

Cheers!

Where is the message? (15 secs would have done BTW)

Anyway, check the last two entries in this forum thread.

ADAM FOULKES November 4th 06 01:17 AM

? Macrovison on Channel four...a response from sky

Hello,
I called sky this evening and it took around 20 mins to get through
(suprise, suprise). I had to explain the problem and I was put through to
the technical dept.
They sent several signals to the sky box and this resolved the problem of
recording to DVD from channel four.
I then went to the cinema to see Saw 3 (fantastic film) and returned home to
watch a bit of TV.
(You can see what is coming here.....) I turn on the sky+ box and I am only
allowed to watch the free channels.
I have to call sky up again (16 mins this time) and the operator seems
perplexed by what has happened. He reinstated my premium channels and said
that if I was sent a new viewing card they would have to cancel my existing
one - which means no TV.

I have no ariel system where I live - so no sky - no TV.
Maybe this is not such a bad thing! Do I have a problem :0)
Isn't it just ctap though that sky cannot send out a card and then cancel
the previous one once it arrives?

I will have to wait until I go on hols before I call them up to send a
replacement - it's just a pain in the ass.

I said they need to make a note of this problem and get it sorted.

So I am not going mad - there is a problem with macrovision after all!
Thanks tumbleweed for your posts, they have been very helpful!.

Best wishes,
Adam

No, it means no *pay* TV. The 200+ FTA channels will continue to work.

I quite agree that it should be possible for Sky to issue a new card
and then automatically cancel the old one a week later. Especially as
the subscriber is paying for the entire time.

It's not brain surgery.

There are FTA stations via satellite. I receive about 200 on Astra 2 /
Eurobird.

I think Jomtien is referring to the 200+ channels via your dish not aerial.

You should get the BBC channels and possibly ITV,Channel 4 and 5 if they Sky
don't completly kill the card for FTV viewing (you could always ask Sky
themselves)

Take your viewing card out now and flick through al the channels,IF Sky
leave your card in an FTV state,Add 101,102,103,104 and 105 to the list you
see without card :-)

No, you don't understand.

As mentioned, your digibox will receive some 200+ FTA channels without
any viewing card.
