Mitsubishi hdtv rptv

I'm considering buying the Mitsubishi 48" widescreen hdtv rear projection
monitor ws-48313. Does anybody have any good or bad input about this model
or brand.

Thanks,
Brian

I have last years WS55511 model, and I have been happy with it. Stretch
modes on this are somewhat funky (for SD), but all my HD stuff looks great!

I'm not sure if the one you are looking at has their "Netcommand", but I
find that pretty much worthless, and you are better served with a good
remote.....

I have the 55511 also. Great picture and
I feel the same way about Netcommand!

I have a friend who as a 48" Mits. DirecTV & DVDs look great on it; so
much so that he hasn't bothered getting anything for HD.

Yep. I gave up on the IR repeaters and netcommand and picked up a Harmony
remote. First time I ever had 1 remote to use exclusively.

I set up a friends 511, Sony Receiver, Toshiba DVD, Mits VCR, cable box (w\
Tivo) and HDTV OTA Antenna input using Netcommand and it works flawlessly.
My friends are not techie at all and the device selection on screen display
works nicely for them. They select "Cable" and Netcommand switches the TV
input and corresponding receiver input automatically. Netcommand does this
with all devices. The ir repeaters are quite small and not noticeable.

I'll have to check those out... way too many remotes as it is. What
model do you have?

I have yet to hook up the firewire, but I was thinking of getting an apple
laptop and use their transport (I saw it at a users meeting, pretty
nifty...).

That's what I've been using to record stuff. It works great.

It depends on the placement of the hardware for the cable placement. My
components are not right next to each other. The IR repeaters just add to
the cluster of cables for me.

With my remote, I selcet "Watch OTA", and it changes the input for the TV,
the reciever, turns off the cable box, etc. I watch SD cable, it changes all
the IO. Same for using HD cable, DVD, Playstation, VCR (though I don't use
that much at all these days), or listen to the radio (it turns off all
components not needed such as the TV and DVD or cable box, changes the
receiver to tuner, and I can change my stations with it) and CD jukebox. It
even has a TV guide that displays on the LCD screen and a channel favorites
list and for those that want it, you can use XML code to customize it.

A vote of confidence! Now I'll have to do it....

Tom November 29th 03 05:37 AM

I have a WS-48513. I feel the same about Net Command. I was able to get rid
of 4 remotes and go to 1. It took me 3 weeks of reading the manual and
experimenting. Does the 313 have a DVI connection? The 513 does.
