Yes! Sky are now using Macrovison!!!
Hello
Further to my previous post of asking if there were any readers that were having problems recording programmes onto DVD from sky+ 160, I can confirm that it is a problem with Macrovison. I have a sonel macro master which decodes macrovison to allow encrypted pictures to be screened/recorded. I have not used this in ages but I thought I would use the cable as a link between the Sky+ and the DVD recorder. Sure enough, I then attempted to record the last episode of Depserate Housewives onto DVD and it worked like a treat. I did not get any message saying this programme cannot be recorded. So there you have it! I am disgusted that Sky or the providing channels have started to use macrovision. Don't we all pay enough on the extortionate sky subs without having to pay extra out to save recordings on to DVD we may wish to watch at a later date? I suppose it is a way to maximise sales of TV box sets when they are released a few months later! 'The dirty robbin ba*****s' as catherine tate would say! I really really hate the way I have to be reliant on SKY. I have no ariel reception where I live and cable TV is not available either. Sky know this is the case in a lot of areas and therefore have no competion - hence whay they can get away with giving, at times, terrible customer service. I am not saying they are all bad cause without it I would not be able to watch TV but they so need a kick up the arse sometimes! Don't you agree Ok, OK... rant over :0) A |

So there you have it! So there you have what? You used a Macrovision remover, on a source which does not have Macrovision, and because you were able to record it without any problems, that proves that Macrovision is in use? That's just so confused I don't even know where to start. -- |

There is no need to be so unpleasant in your response!
It worked for me - it was a macrovison remover - it was able to record the source - so there you have it. It seems logical to me that macrovision was used. It I can record other programmes without isssue so I assumed this was the problem. a "Zero Tolerance" wrote in message ... Only if others have the same problem and use the same trick to get round it is there proof. It is a weird one, but am I right in thinking it's only happening to sky+ users? -- Paul (I have tried in my way to be free) ------------------------------------------------------ Stop and Look http://www.geocities.com/dreamst8me/ |

It I can record other programmes without isssue so I assumed this was the problem. I don't think you appreciate the point I'm making here. What you recorded (Desperate Housewives) does not have Macrovision on it in the first place. The fact that you were able to record it using a Macrovision remover cable doesn't mean that there was any Macrovision to remove. Example. I have purchased a new pair of elephant filter sunglasses. Now when I go out, I can see no elephants at all. This proves that the street is full of elephants. Good job I have these sunglasses so that I don't see them. Do you see where I'm going wrong there? -- |

Yes, being blind to elephants is extremely dangerous, they are large and could inadvertently cause you serious injury. Mike |
