$ky using Macrovision now?

I've been reading a number of posts in web-based forums recently that
seem to imply that those people who have external DVD/VHS recorders
connected to their $ky boxes are increasingly getting their recordings
blocked because $ky has started to implement Macrovision encoding on
certain channels. I've seen reports of $ky's film channels and $ky1/2/3
being affected.

I'm not a $ky subscriber any more, but I do still have a $ky box with a
DVD recorder connected for occasional recordings from the FTV/FTA
channel offerings.

Thus far, I haven't seen any problem. Are these reports correct, or is
it just people not being to operate their recording equipment properly?

Well there appears to be many people with the problem, so it's highly
likely they haven't not got their equipment set up OK.

My HDD/DVD recorder has macrovision protection disabled and for my other
DVD recorders I have a macrovision remover scart lead, so don't have any
problems.

Yep.
I've noticed it on $ky3.
I tried a recording a week ago and macrovision ruined it.
I tried again last Sunday and the same result.

It was time to cancel my subscription to $ky anyway.
I don't know if it's my imagination but there seems to be more time
given
over to advertising.

It was The 4400 both times.
So you'd better be quick tonight.

Probably a film. With TV shows they just put lots of writing all

over
the screen to stop people from watching them.

My dvd recorder was chipped from new for multiregion and to disable
macrovision. I've never been certain that it works both ways though. (Mainly
because I've never tried). I know it disables the output of macrovision from
dvds played on the machine. Does it normally also remove the restriction of
recording protected content?

Not sure, never looked into it with any other recorder, just the HDD/DVD
recorder I have, the firmware was 'freely' availble to allow you to
record on the incoming scart even if the programme/DVD/Video you were
recording from had macrovision on.

The macrovision remover leads leads work with the 2 Panasonic DMRs so
you can record programmes etc which are macrovision protected on them.
