Any1 familiar with this model?
Sony 34" WEGAź Flat Screen HDTV (KD34XBR970) SON KD34XBR970
I'm thinking of going with a conventianal tube HDTV insted of a Plasma or LCD, anyone familiar with this model? Opinions, thoughts. At the moment I have regular cable, some chanel show some programs on HD at time, could I see them without any converter seeing that this model does NTSC/ATSC/QAM. Thanks |

I've got a friend with that set (or last year's version). Very nice picture, but it is one *HUGE* box. Definitely check your space and measure the set. And get a weightlifting friend to help you position it. :) Yes, you should be able to receive any local network feeds carried by your cable without a converter. And of course you can get any OTA digital stations if you hook up a proper antenna. Dan (Woj...) |

I have this tv's predecessor, the KV-34HS420. With the 970 they added digital tuners (ATSC/QAM), independent input memory and a few other niceties. This is a very fine HDTV. In fact, it's the best large widescreen crt HD set on the market today. justsc |

Supposed to combine CRT technology in a flatpanel design! The German computer magazine, c't, had a comparison test between Plasma, LCD and CRT sets in a recent issue. CRT came in dead last as far as pix quality was concerned. LCD had the sharpest pictures and Plasma the best colors. -=tom=- -=tom=- |
