I didn't know about this. What have we got to look forward to -
Canadian football?

What will the new channels be called - five two, five three etc?

Thank you.

Five Life sounds like a bundle of fun - more girl's TV.

How come a channel aimed at a female audience is considered viable yet
somethig similar aimed at dysfunctional, autistic and infantile men
(i.e. the sort that are interested in science engineering and things
with wheels/wings) is not to be even encouraged?

I suppose it's the feminisation of TV and the media again, but do Five
really not wan't a male audience or do all the girls, that clearly run
it, believe for one second that blokes are going to tune into
irrelevant people TV.

The country's going soft just look at all the complaints Top Gear
attracts just because they dare to put some wheels on.

Five US will no doubt be full of all the stuff the other channels have
already declined which, given that I avoid most US TV already, hardly
sounds appealing.

Actually, AUS TV is not all bad they could do better to import some of
that, in fact Serbo Croat TV holds more appeal than the US stuff.

Wonder what'll get booted off DTT's Mux A to make room. TUTV, the
shopping channels, or BBC radio?

TUTV. It's "listened to what its customers want and is changing".

i.e. it's been kicked off by Five and it's going bust.

What do you mean? Did you not, however briefly, experience the
zeitgeist that was 'Men and Motors'?

Five are pulling back two of their channels that TUTV currently utilise,
which seems to have been the catalyst for TopupTV to come up with the
Anytime service as a replacement

Because women are a far better target for TV advertising. Women probably
account for 90% of food and household purchasing decisions, and are
more amenable to TV advertising for everything from cosmetics to
sofas to Airwick fresheners. These include regular purchases week in
and week out .With the sort of high ticket items that appeal equally to
men, cars and wide screen TV's for instance these are occasional purchases
and are often joint decisions. Beer, aftershave, and lads mags are probably
among the few exclusively male targetted ads.

Yeah, the women may do the leg work but blokes eat and some of the
dodgy ones are even hygenic and I'm sure they let it be known what
their preferences are.

In my case, we do the supermarket shopping together anyway as do most
couples.
