Others have pointed you to several antenna sites - but, depending on where your stations are, you might also want to consider an antenna rotator. Funny how old things come back even in todays high tech world - rotators used to be very common in the 'old' days but then gradually dissapeared except from the amateur radio (ham) market. Now, with OTA, they seem to make a comeback at about 3x the prices ;-)) -=tom=- |

All the stations in the twin cities broadcast from the same spot in Shoreview. I doubt a rotor is worth it unless he really wants to try to get the one station in Saint Cloud. Funny how old things come back even in todays high tech world - rotators used to be very common in the 'old' days but then gradually dissapeared except from the amateur radio (ham) market. I designed and built a two-axis rotor once for OSCAR usage, but it never made it into production. -- Grant Edwards grante Yow! I feel... JUGULAR... at visi.com |

Others have pointed you to several antenna sites - but, depending on where your stations are, you might also want to consider an antenna rotator. It depends on how strong the stations. The stations around here (I live just west of Midland MI) are about 20 to 50 miles with them being located from SE to nearly straight west. 5, 12, 14, 25 and 66 are SE. 6, 23, and 28 are pretty much south with 6 and 23 being about 70 miles. 19 is a bit over 20 miles nearly due West. I am currently using a single UHF antenna pointed at 6 and 23 (Nearly due South) at roughly 90 feet It works very well on the digital channels. 6 analog is snowy as I'd expect for the distance and wrong antenna. There are strong ghosts on 12, and 19 analog which I also expected. Then again, who watches the analog signals when digital is available. The only channels I do not receive with this arrangement are 9 and 33 which are NW at roughly 60 and 90 miles respectively. I have a second UHF antenna pointed up there, but it's currently down as I'm doing some tower work. Funny how old things come back even in todays high tech world - rotators used to be very common in the 'old' days but then gradually dissapeared except from the amateur radio (ham) market. Now, with OTA, they seem to make a comeback at about 3x the prices ;-)) True, but just about every thing else, with the exception of electronics, is three times the price as well. -=tom=- Roger Halstead (K8RI & ARRL life member) (N833R, S# CD-2 Worlds oldest Debonair) www.rogerhalstead.com |

If it doesn't, then you are going to need to add a set top box with such a tuner, in order to connect to your antenna and receive (H)DTV. Phil |
