Hitachi 55HDM71
Hi,
I don't think I am getting the most out of my new HD 55 inch plasma display (above). Does anyone know if having professional calibration is worth the expense vs just "out of the box". Bill |

Have you tried multiple sources, (i.e. DVD, Cable TV, etc)? I have
Comcast HD Cable with a Motorola box and when I got my new TV I had to go into the settings of the cable box and choose 16:9 1080i. Before I did that it looked crappy. Not sure what kind of cable box you have but with my Comcast Motorola you have to turn the power on the cable box to OFF. While the cable box is OFF, press the MENU button on the cable box remote. This will bring up a text menu with a few options. Here is where I switched it to 16:9 1080i. It will also ask you what you want to do in the event that you tune to a non-HD station. -Adam Bill wrote: Hi, I don't think I am getting the most out of my new HD 55 inch plasma display (above). Thanks, Adam
I use Directv Satellite. I will double check my Satellite Receiver and be sure the formats are properly set. I think that they are. I believe this problem has to do with the Grayscale and I have no idea how to go about resetting that. I have a feeling it is only accessible through the "professional technician menu" that ordinary folks can't avail themselves of.
