Toshiba tookit back

Had a Toshiba 52HM95 HD DLP 52 in. had so much trouble with the set that
they exchanged it for another model. Had this set for 8 months, Toshiba
could not solve the cable card issue.

Now I have a 56HMX96 54.in., works great with the cable card! We'll see what
happens.

My first Cable Card in a Sharp 37D5 worked for about 3 months. The second
lasted a month. Then I gave up and got a DVR. The problem seems to be
related to the cable company making changes to their service. Both times the
Cable Card hung on trying to download a software upgrade. Comcast tells me
they are not transmitting Cable Card upgrade info (That may be the crux of
the problem). No reset of any kind helped. According to a recent NY Times
article, less than 3% of TVs with a CC slot are actually using it, and
manufacturers are greatly reducing the models that support CC.

Curious, does the TVGuide On Screen work with the Toshiba? The Sharp only
has the analog version that works off mostly PBS stations, and will not work
TVGOS on digital cable

The TV guide does work with the Toshiba, the first set took forever to
download the stations sometimes a week, new set overnight.

Looks like your cable system still support the TVGuide that works off analog
stations. Comcast here seems to have stripped all that information off. VCRs
with the automatic time set don't set any more either. The up side is that
the TVGuide info now comes up on the STB in about 2 munutes.
