I'm a bit of a CSI freak and always watch it on Tuesday if I'm in. Pretty
well always off Freeview as my analogue C5 signal is iffy - strange
considering where I live having line of sight to CP some 5 miles away.

Last night the signal was breaking up badly - although this mainly put
holes in the sound, with some picture disturbance. Topfield PVR being used
as tuner. Flipping around during the ads, other channels seemed ok.

Anyone else notice this? I'm wondering whether it was a transmission
rather than reception fault.

Yep ..I have noticed the same, Dave - and this through the
Tacolneston transmitter.

It seems that signal from (here channel 53) the Mux A are
not operating at full strength, or at least are suffering
from some slight glitching.

I'm about - (when I can find the number and get a few
minutes spare) - to try and give the transmitter guys
a quick call - but, possibly from an onscreen note the
other night ..or was it the web?.. note that in the present
conditions of very high-pressure that the transmission can
be distorted..

It has, however, informed my inexpert view of these things,
that I'm not alone in imagining that the other Muxes don't
seem to be affected - just, in my case, Mux A.

I'm glad you mentioned it ..I was wondering how to connect
the antenna up to a voltage source to give the pidgeon, bird,
cat or whatever perching on that branch of the aerial a
significant shock up it's tail region... ;))

Is Channel 5 on CP? I thought it was on the Croydon one nearby.

I noticed this, which is odd for Five which is pretty solid normally.

Exactly ditto watching CSI Miami last night. Lots of intermittent break up
and I'm on Crystal Palace using a Topfield TF5800PVR. I am about 25 to 30
miles from Crystal Palace line of sight.

My channel 5 shows a signal reading of 62 to 63%.

Channel 4 in comparison with no break up shows a reading of 69 to 69%.

Yes, same problem - from Winter Hill! The couple of times I checked the
signal strength and quality were showing normal values.

Same problem - mostly sound breaks - in Central Scotland.
Usual problem here is video glitches on Ch4 from Black Hill

Same here, receiving from Winter Hill, watching it about half an hour behind
real time on a PVR. Everything else seems OK, so probably a TX fault and not
our gear.

Rod.

North - Balham.

Ah - thought all analogue TV came from CP. But from here they're close
enough together not to make a difference to aerial alignment.

My FreeView is generally immaculate. Well, the reception, that is. ;-)

Problem was as far West as Swindon too. Sound dropouts etc on Freeview, from
Mendip transmitter

Croydon does transmit channel 5 and can Tx channel 4 and ITV one in case
of a breakdown at Xtal palace. IIRC its line fed from channel five on
that TX but satellite fed everywhere else!...

Balham! Gosh you are so near to the CP transmitter that your analogue Five
should be okay! I suggest, if it bothers you, you get your rooftop aerial
looked at or renewed. I am in Marylebone and Five is okay.

My Nebula PC card has lost Muxes A & D completely, so no 5 or Film Four
from Mendip.

The TV is fine.

Anyone else?
