CH 5 last night
I'm a bit of a CSI freak and always watch it on Tuesday if I'm in. Pretty
well always off Freeview as my analogue C5 signal is iffy - strange considering where I live having line of sight to CP some 5 miles away. Last night the signal was breaking up badly - although this mainly put holes in the sound, with some picture disturbance. Topfield PVR being used as tuner. Flipping around during the ads, other channels seemed ok. Anyone else notice this? I'm wondering whether it was a transmission rather than reception fault. -- *Do infants enjoy infancy as much as adults enjoy adultery? Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

Yep ..I have noticed the same, Dave - and this through the Tacolneston transmitter. It seems that signal from (here channel 53) the Mux A are not operating at full strength, or at least are suffering from some slight glitching. I'm about - (when I can find the number and get a few minutes spare) - to try and give the transmitter guys a quick call - but, possibly from an onscreen note the other night ..or was it the web?.. note that in the present conditions of very high-pressure that the transmission can be distorted.. It has, however, informed my inexpert view of these things, that I'm not alone in imagining that the other Muxes don't seem to be affected - just, in my case, Mux A. I'm glad you mentioned it ..I was wondering how to connect the antenna up to a voltage source to give the pidgeon, bird, cat or whatever perching on that branch of the aerial a significant shock up it's tail region... ;)) Bill ZFC -- Adoption InterLink UK with -=- http://www.billsimpson.com/ Domain Host Orpheus Internet -=- http://www.orpheusinternet.co.uk/ |

Exactly ditto watching CSI Miami last night. Lots of intermittent break up and I'm on Crystal Palace using a Topfield TF5800PVR. I am about 25 to 30 miles from Crystal Palace line of sight. My channel 5 shows a signal reading of 62 to 63%. Channel 4 in comparison with no break up shows a reading of 69 to 69%. |

Same problem - mostly sound breaks - in Central Scotland. Usual problem here is video glitches on Ch4 from Black Hill Geo |

Same here, receiving from Winter Hill, watching it about half an hour behind real time on a PVR. Everything else seems OK, so probably a TX fault and not our gear. Rod. |
