In addition to being an excellent upconverting player it also plays the new HD-DVD format. "ToMh" wrote in message ups.com... If I but a new HDTV, should I buy an upconverting DVD player? Do these things really improve the image? Tom because the DVD player has direct access to the MPEG encoded stream that is recorded on the DVD, it can do a better job of up-converting than if you handed an analogue signal to a TV set. Also note, unless you have an older up-converting DVD player such as the SONY DVD NS7SP the up-converted output will be available on the HDMI. It is prohibited for a new DVD player to have analog output with greater than 750 X 480 resolution. ....disco legend zeke |
