Sharp LC-37HV4U and high Def Is it 1080i capable?
Hello:
I own this tv and was wondering if anyone else owns it. The web site says it can show 720p. I can't seem to find in the owners manual to see where it mention 720p or if it is capable of 1080i. My local cable company (Cox Cable in Va Hampton Roads)has just started to offer high def service but only for 1080i capable high def TVs. I'm hoping mine would be supported. Does anyone know if my high def TV is capable of 1080i or where I can get the info. Thanks |

If the LCD is set up correctly--color, tint , brightness, and contrast you will have a 3_D looking Picture. Dick |
Thanks guys,
The excat exerpt from the Cox cable company is below that had me worried from their FAQ web page. I keep hearing about 720p and 1080i signal formats. What is Cox going to support? Cox High Definition Cable will only work with high definition televisions capable of receiving the 1080i format. I'm going to give them a call on Monday and sign up for high def service. I will have to rent their high def receiver which is a Motorola High-Definition Cable Receiver DCT6200, for I think about $10.00 a month. I wish I had high def this weekend, as the PAtriot vs Dallas game will be on ESPNHD. Dam I want to see that in high def. (Patriot fan here in Virginia). I like your idea Doug of the HD/analop PIP trick, I didn't even think of that. I was hoping you guys had another trick. Since there is only one set of compents on this tv, how can I share them. I already have my X-Box hooked up to the components. Is there a way to have the High def receiver and X-box components share or split the component inputs? Anyways thanks for letting me know that the tv will support 1080i. That was a big relief. |
Hmm, I thought that thing had 2 HD component inputs. Guess not. Anyway, if
you want the best technical way to switch between the XBOX and the HD Cable box, get a surround sound receiver with component video switching. This will accomplish 2 things, first it will let you switch the 2 sources for video, and second, it will let you listen to both products in digital surround sound. Otherwise, you can try a generic video switch box that you'll usually find in the video game section of your local retailer. You'll have to physically switch the 2 sources doing it this way. You might lose a little bandwidth with the second option, reducing the picture quality slightly, but it should still work. Doug -- "Maybe it's not over.
