Film 4 fta or ftv?

Any views on whether Film 4 will be fta or ftv?
I know they say fta on their website but I think they tend to confuse fta
and ftv.

Free-To-View for Sky subscribers only on $ky.

Truly free on Digital Terrestrial.

No. That is an oxymoron.

Yes it is. And MORE4 was Free-To-Air before it launched, only for 4MORON to
air-brush out all those statements repeatedly made before launch date when
after launch date, it became "free" for paying Sky subscribers only on DSAT.

You don't think Sky are going to let Channel 4 broadcast using CAMed
encryption in competition with themselves do you?

My take is Andy Duncan was president of Freeview. It will be free but only
on Freeview just like E4 and 4MORON.

I would of course be pleased to be proven wrong this Sunday *IF* Channel 4
change the trend of the last 2 "launches".

The promo of Film4 and Film4+1 on satellite is currently going out FTA.

The pre-launch promo isn't a good indicator based on past experience.
The promo of More4 was FTA also I believe, but afterwards it turned out
to be a pay-TV channel in Sky's "variety" pack.

They lied / mislead / were wrong about E4.

They lied / mislead / were wrong about 4MORON.

They...

We will see. But given that if they are using CAM, it's SKY that controls
the software not Channel 4, what would Sky do?

It would certainly be in our interests for it to be totally Free To Air and
indicate the end of Sky's CAM monopoly. The BBC and ****V have done it, not
that many people watch ****V these days. ;-)

In earlier statements this year, they said that they were now free of
the contractual obligations that affected More4's launch in
particular.

"Variety" mix package and are not FTV on DSAT.

Channel 4 would not, in that case, be able to describe the channel as
being "Free". The ASA would smack them hard if they did.

ASA(holes) don't regulate TV promos as they are technically not adverts.
They are adverts for TV channels but not adverts.

OFCOM (arseholes) dismissed 4MORON not being free complaints with the usual
we don't give a **** flippant excuse.

And the answer officially is...

It's Totally Free To Air at present, working in my $ky box with the $ky card
out.

This is a good sign given those expensive movie rights that C4 will become
FTA when their Sat CAM contract expires in 2008.

I can't wait to ditch my Sky viewing card and not have hundreds of "dead"
entries show up in my EPG, that is when I'm not using my fully programmable
Topfield TF5800PVR of course.

Glad to find I'm wrong and C4 didn't lie third lauch around.

Since the last EPG change the entire pay channel list displays on all
boxes, with or without viewing card.
