Component or DVI to HDMI connection
I am awaiting my first HDTV and wondering which hookup to my SA 3250HD cable
box ( Charter Cable) would be best. I have the option of using the box's component output or getting a DVI to HDMI cable ( cable box does not have HDMI-just DVI). I am using the optical audio out to my surround system so audio is not in question. The TV is the Westinghouse 47" that was just released and I expect it the end of next week. Thanks, Bob |

Thanks, Bob Use DVI to HDMI, it supplies a digital video picture. Component cables are analog. The optical audio will work perfect with the DVI to HDMI cable. Keith http://www.eHDMI.com |

When I first hooked up my JVC to my satellite box I had both DVI-HDMI and component in place for a while (because there was a problem with the audio in the former), therefore I could toggle back and forth to see what difference existed. The HDMI had better video, but quite honestly the difference was not huge. Both were very impressive. |

I had the same situation with my Samsung HL-S4266W and Comcast.
I found a DVI to HDMI cable on the internet (at monoprice.com it was $1.95 + shipping) and I see an improved picture. "Bob" wrote in message ... From what I've been reading there's really no way to tell without trying
both types of connections. So when my TV comes I'll try them both ( I found a DVI to HDMI cable at Wal-Mart of all places) and use what looks best on my combination of equipment. Thanks for all the answers! Bob "Pete LaFlamme" wrote in message ... I had the same situation with my Samsung HL-S4266W and Comcast. Thanks, Bob I used to use a DVI to HDMI in my older Motorola converter. It worked fine. Component worked fine as well, but it is a lot more cable to hide. HDMI makes the wife happy, which gives me peace. |
