Projection Televisions
Does anyone out there know where in Southern California (preferably in
the South Bay area, Torrance, Long Beach) I can go and demo some of the projectors. I am still rather confused by the whole thing as far as which projector would be the best for us and our environment, maybe someone out there can point me in the right direction. The room where this will go is being remodeled, it's dimentions are 13'x20' (8 feet tall). I can easily black this room out, it only has 1 window (daylight basement). I plan to put the screen over the fireplace which is 79" inches wide. Since this will be our TV room we will be watching satellite tv in here too, not a whole lot but would like to watch some hockey games, etc... and the ability to have some light in here and still be able to see the screen. I guess I am not the most discriminating viewer, I have a 8 year old Mitsubishi big screen that doesn't look great but is still managable. So far on my short list of projectors to look into are NEC HT1000 and Infocus X1. As far as price, I have no friggin' idea. I guess I've got under $3000 in my mind right now but if someone said "for another thousand you could get a much better machine" I would probably look into that too. I am not in a hurry to purchase, I will probably have to have a pretty good idea of the wiring in the next month or so, probably looking to purchase the projector by the first of the year. Thanks in advance for any advise. |
