Which Tyupe TV to buy on my budget
Hello,
I have finally set a budget for how much I can spend on a new television plus extended waranty at $2,500.00. I can find some 50" Plazma's in this price range. If I went with an LCD unit I could only get a 37" or an LCD projection at 40". One of the reasons I am considering a smaller LCD unit is because my wife had an accidend a few years ago and suffered a terrible head injury and is still having some trouble with her vision. I think the non glare screen of the LCD would help her watch TV easier. I think that the bigger Plazma might offset the benifits of the non glare LCD but I would probably have to get a cheaper unit made by a company I have never heard of before like Vizio or Akai. I anyone has any suggestions to help me work through this, I would be grateful. Thanks, David |

There was one at Circuit City that had the worst customer rating I had ever see. I went with a 37" LCD, but have also seen Sony 3LCD projectors that looked decent; about $1800 for the 42 inch. Best price was at Boscov's. The 37 inch Sharps can be had for less than 2K. Tam |

Not only did it not have the latest technology e.g. no HDMI input but was of inferior quality. Subsequently I was able to confirm my evaluation after reading the troubled history of this company and a number of negative reviews of this product. I returned the Akai and purchased a 50" Vizio plasma, which currently sells for $1665. Although there reportedly have been some quality issues with this product, speaking for myself I believe it is a great value and I am quite satisfied. While some of the better known brand TV's are rated superior, I do not feel that paying an additional $1300-$2000 is justified. HG |

Thanks HG.
The 50" Vizio Plazma at Sam's Club is model P50 HDM. It is just a monitor but I watch all my TV from DirecTV or DVD. They are selling it for $1,964.76. I haven't found any reviews of this model on the internet. My mistake, Sam's price is actually $5.23 less than what I paid. I suggest you check out Sam's return policy. While you have a standard manufacturer's warranty, often the warehouse clubs have a liberal return policy that obviates the need for an extended warranty. I haven't found any reviews of this model on the internet. There have been many reviews of this product--almost all favorable. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...oogle+Sea rch You most likely are aware that the Vizio is a monitor but since you have Direct TV, this is not an issue. There are rumors that Vizio is introducing a 50" plasma w/tuner. Good luck, HG Regards, David Harvey wrote: Zaphod wrote: Hello, I have finally set a budget for how much I can spend on a new television plus extended waranty at $2,500.00. You are right. After I left this note, I tried aagain and googled this
model and found a lot of reviews both magazine and customer. I don't know what I did wrong last time I tried. Thanks, David Harvey wrote: Zaphod wrote: Thanks HG. Which store is selling the 50" Vizio plasma for $1665? I've only seen it at $1999 at the local BJ's, or online in a few places at the same price... Harvey wrote: I returned the Akai and purchased a 50" Vizio plasma, which currently sells for $1665. |
