just got a samsung 42" plasma hdtv. Am running it with a standard sky box
via scart. Am very disappointed with the picture quality, especially football matches on any channel. Picture is fuzzy, blurry patches, distance seems out of focus, almost like watching the screen through slightly frosted glass at times - a bit like the quality of streaming video on the pc. signal quality seems okay. not tried analogue as I dont have an aerial set up. is this picture quality normal for a 42" plasma hdtv when not run with an hdtv source? |

Answer is no you should get a great picture, are you sure it's set up

This is pretty much par for the course. Football is a bad source to start with: lots of fast movement, fine image contours and uniform colours. Any SD sat source is going to look rather poor on a 42in screen at the best of times. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. The BBC channels are especially good. I am receiving the satellite signal on a DVB-S card in a PC connecting to the screen via VGA. -- Nigel Barker Live from the sunny Cote d'Azur |

I have a non-HD widescreen CRT and football on ITV has been of noticably ****e quality on Sky Digital. I don't think this will come as news to most readers here. I counter the effects by drinking plenty of beer which is much more effective than forking out for expensive SCART leads. -- Stephen Chadfield http://www.chadfield.com/ |
