Has anybody actually got Spanish TDT working?
I have just tried connecting a new set top box to
an old aerial and got no signal at all.
A new aerial is the least that is required but
it would be helpful to know the experiences
of anyone whose system works.

The UK is ever so slightly out of range of Spanish DTT.
As you posted to a UK group it is assumed that you are in the UK.
Regards Mike.

However I am in the UK and would be interested to know - for our
property there. Any answers on if anyone has it working in Spain then?

Sorry I've missed the first few posts.
When in Spain up to now have not seen terrestrial digi boxes for sale in the
shops. Will look again when there next, is it a recent start and wide
spread? I would satellite dishes are on most houses etc. and it would be
hard for terrestrial to start.

Spain has operated at nationwide DTT service for almost as long as we
have, in recent years I've been to northern Spain and two of the Canary
Is, and every roof top had yellow Televés UHF yagis attached.

Could mean analogue?

In many cases yes, but (like here), terrestrial UHF reception is the
main domestic receive platform, not satellite. DTT is not the run away
success it is in the UK, but it's got reasonable take up:-

http://www.dvb.org/about_dvb/dvb_wor...pain/index.xml (Third
story down).

AIUI DTT transmissions are carried in the opposite polarization to
analogue, which would explain the fair number of homes with two yagis,
one HP the other VP pointing in the same direction.

Note the name of this Newsgroup! It is to do with UK digital TV, hence if
you are asking about Spanish DTT from an old aerial, one could easily
believe that you were trying to pick up Spanish TV from the UK! After all,
in lift conditions, some people report here getting French channels.

It's a perfectly acceptable question for uk.tech.digital, I'd be interested to know if a UK DTT box
works in Spain, and where better to ask that question ?
