I don't know what it's called but I want to do it anyway
I've had a Humax 8000 for a couple of years now and have been very
happy with it. Now I'm looking at buying a twin-tuner PVR. But there's one thing I'd like any new machine to do and it's this: I'm watching something through the PVR as it's being broadcast. Trouble is, I've got to go out in a minute but I want to see the end of the show. I know I can just hit pause and then I can resume watching when I come back, but is there a way to save the recording (it's there on the disk somewhere after all) so it's stored just like ordinary scheduled recordings? I can't find any way to do this on my Humax, but can any other (esp twin tuner) devices do this? And does it have a name? Thanks |

Two tuners, two buffers. How would you have it work? |

The manufacturers often don't know what features will be popular, and there is some merit in making them aware of these. I'd say TiVo probably have a patent on saving the buffer as part of a new recording.... -- Adrian C |

The Topfield TF5800 does (along with loads of other things it does better than the Humax), you press record and it records two hours, or press again and you have the option to record until the end of this program or the next program. -- Andrew, contact via http://interpleb.googlepages.com Help make Usenet a better place: English is read downwards, please don't top post. You can also go via the menu on the Topfield, choose Recording, ,and
then Current Event, and all the parts of the current programme that are in the buffer will be included. A couple of TAPs will do this automatically for you, or you can just rewind, press record, and do it that way. Nigel. |
