Waiting time for HD installation.

Anyone have any idea what the approx. current waiting time is to get HD
installed by Sky?

I've heard 2-3 months! Surely that can't be correct?

Yes it can.

You are probably looking at late August, due to the shortage of boxes.

Apparently its not a shortage of Boxes, its a shortage of Trained
'Engineers' to do the Job, I rang a week ago and was told End Aug for HD
so I opted for now to have Sky Plus which was prompt and installed bank
holiday Monday, The guy who came out to install my Plus, told me apparently
they have plenty of boxes, just haven't trained enough 'engineers' to do the
job. I thought it Strange as to me, I thought would be a similar set up, but
apparently now.
Anyway I had Plus installed and will opt for HD when more than 8 programs
become available.

I'd want the same number of channels as there are now non HD if the money is
the same

I just went from sky+ (moved upstairs) to HD and a chimp could have done
the install (come to think of it he did have big sticky out ears and was
quite hairy)
The hardest part was opening the cardboard box to get the HD box out.
After that it was a basic straight swap.
Oh yeah, and a phone call to activate the card (which could be deemed as
difficult for some I guess - maybe people with no fingers)
So basically your guy was talking out of his arse.

And of course that must be a fact then...

Every Sky employee seems to have their own different story to tell

Sky are bonkers. Anyone who can install a Sky+ can install an HD box.
