Ch5 on Frreview from Bluebell Hill

Thought I would let you know of the problems I have been having getting the
Mux that contains Channel 5, and the cause.

Since mid April I completely lost this mux it is on Channel 27 from Bluebell
Hill transmitter.

After some investigation I discovered that this coincided with the start of
a HDTV trail from Crystal Palace transmitter also on Channel 27.

I eventually managed to find the company that is running the technical side
of this trail and contacted them, which ended with a visit by 2 engineers
form Arqiva yesterday, very helpful, even got the HD trail transmission form
Crystal Palace switched off for a few minutes to confirm it was this that
was causing my problems!

As soon as the HD trail that is also on Ch27 was switched off my Channel 5
and all the other missing programs from that Mux re-appeared. The HD trail
was switched on again, on ch 5 went. Out of interest the power was gradually
reduced at CP until I picked up Channel 5 again, this did not happen until
power was down by 6 dB.

The only fix they could suggest was to re-align my antenna towards Bluebell
hill & away from Crystal palace, I will do this in a few weeks & see what
happens..

These guys really do want to ensure we can all get as many channels as we
should on freeview, to date they have only received 15 or so complaints, I
would urge you if you are having problems of channel 5 going missing from
the middle of April to get in touch by emailing channel5
