I'm bloody annoyed :-(
Dunno if anyone here remembers, but a few weeks ago, I talked about
installing either Freeview or Freesat for a rather attractive young lady. Anyway, common opinion here was that the Freesat option was probably the best idea & I told her the pros & cons of both systems & she opted for the Freesat option. I got her a box off ebay for £35 all in (price included p&p) & installed it & all was well. Anyway, she now says she is unhappy as she doesn't get all the stations she thought she would & wants her money back! She hasn't bothered getting the free to view card from Sky as she thinks the £20 it costs for 5 extra channels ain't cheap. So now I've got to give her the money back & hope to re-sell the box & not lose out (which I probably will). It doesn't help that she is a massive fan of E4 & can't get that on Freesat without subscribing, & she won't subscribe. I can't help but think that she was talked into this position by my brother's ex-wife (her best friend) who is a bloody pain in the arse. OK, I can install Freeview for her (which will cost more than Freesat plus the viewing card) but I can't guarantee a picture as she lives in a fringe area. I made no money out of getting a Sat box, but I don't think she believes me. Bloody wimmin! Marky P. |

Well don't get involved, you should know what women are like. I would tell her to go and sell the box and dish herself if she wants her money back - SHE made the decision to have it and you helped out for free. I wouldn't bother doing anything else for the ungrateful cow apart from giving her the phone book. |

So now I've got to give her the money back & hope to re-sell the box & not lose out (which I probably will). Marky, hopefully you`ll learn from your experience. I realised a long time ago that you are better of not wasting your time trying to help some people. Most people are never happy and you end up on the losing end much of the time. Most people only cling on to you as a 'useful friend' (if they think you might be of use to them in the near future), not as a real friend. Even when you do someone a favour, you will find that many will never repay that favour when the tables are turned, and they are able to help you in some way. If you ever claim to know anything about anything, you`ll have plenty of friends hanging around....that is guaranteed. A very good friend of mine once advised me that 'You'll always have plenty of work, whilst you work for nowt!' There has never been a truer word spoken..... Tips for you to ensure you dont make this mistake again: * Never admit to anyone your knowledge of anything, always reply with, 'Oh Ive no idea' or similar... That throws potential freebie seekers well off course.... * If someone asks you about something, deny all knowledge of the subject even if you are really clued up on the subject. * If someone asks you to help them install something, point them in the direction of a local company (as they are only asking you, so they can avoid paying you anything and get the job done for nothing.) * Never bring up any subject that might lead to them asking you for help. * Steer clear of potential 'pain in the arses' and 'freebie seekers' (you soon get to know who they are), if you see them coming up the street, go inside and shut the door, curtains etc. * Only help those who help you. To ensure you don't get shafted, let them help you first! * Never take on a job for 'the friend of a (so called) friend' With promises of 'he`ll pay you' etc etc. Chances are they are after something for nothing and you`ll end up on the losing end. * Never assume that a job will be a quick one. A quick job usually ends up taking hours on end, once you arrive and see what a mess you are trying to sort out. Best bet is don't get involved in the first place. * If you do make a mistake of getting involved with someone and doing a free job for them, you will be forever responsible thereafter and if anything goes wrong, it will be your phone that rings! And they will expect you to come round and sort it out again for free! * If you get a phone call from a 'long lost friend' after several months/years, theres a good chance they are after something for nowt, even though they might not immediately bring up the subject. Avoid them getting to the real reason for calling you, by saying are just going out, etc etc. This will usually trigger them into telling you the real reason for the call and then you can end the call early. Suggest that you wil call them back when you have time... : )) I don't need to say anymore on this one..... : )) REMEMBER: A real friend will stay in regular touch with you. If they don't then they are not a true friend. Stick to the above rules and you`ll find life is much nicer and people dont put on you all the time. If you only gain friends, through doing them 'summat for nowt' then they are not friends. Take my advice. The above is from personal experience. Its not worth the hassle, give it a miss....... |

Just the fact that you THINK such things makes you a danger to humanity. No he's right. What wimmen say and what they really mean, and want, are poles apart, and defy reasoning logic. He's not right, but you are about the way you describe them there. But whatever they say about new men and all that claptrap, what they really want is for a man to behave like a man should, and not as a wimp or a cissy or needy........ All any man needs to do is find the right woman who suits his needs and circumtances. And it's the hardest thing in the world to do. -- Dom Robinson Gamertag: DVDfever email: dom at dvdfever dot co dot uk /* http://DVDfever.co.uk (editor) /* 1095 DVDs, 323 games, 227 CDs, 108 cinema films, 34 concerts, videos & news /* pursuit force (psp), the storys, wallace & gromit, broken flowers, 24 game Join the DVDfever.co.uk forum - http://dvdfever.co.uk/phpbb2 New music charts - http://dvdfever.co.uk/music.shtml |

No of course not, though its amazing the number of women around in abusive relationships who stay with the abuser and that includes ones who aren't even married or living together!...... -- Tony Sayer |
