DVD Player has stopped playing modern discs
Until a couple of days ago, my home cinema Pioneer DVD player worked
fine. Yesterday, it suddenly refused to play "modern" DVDs. I'm not sure how to define "modern", but old discs (more than a couple of years old) generally continue to play successfully. The player doesn't recognize that newer discs are even there (gives a "No Disc" error message on loading). The same discs do play successfully on both my PC and my Sony PS2, so the discs themselves aren't faulty. Presumably, some component has failed in the DVD player, but can anyone think what it might be? Something to do with reading dual-layers possibly? I could understand it if it failed to read ANY disc, but to read some and not others seems very strange indeed. |

I had to replace my old Panasonic because of this same thing..but no biggie because it was old. |

I guess it's about 2 years old, but only just. The thing is, it's
played these discs perfectly until yesterday. |
