Sky+ and Sky+HD - Will they be the same remote signal?

Just wondering if I'll be able to piggy back a Sky+ and a Sky+HD or
will they work on the same remote signal?

I see Sky will be installing Octo LNBs - I presently have to have 2
subscriptions to run 3 Sky+ boxes

Your able to have the main subscription and 3 multi room cards on one
account. This can be 4 Sky+ boxes fed by a Quattro LNB via an 8 way
Multi Switch. All boxes must be connected to the same phone line.

I think the original poster is referring to the remote-control handset.

Ordinary Sky and Sky+ have two different remote-controls configured
differently, so that when you push buttons on one, only one digibox
responds.

That way, can can stack your digiboxes on top of each other and control
each box separately.

I dont know about SkyHD. I would hope that you can have SkyHD and Sky+
digiboxes close to one another so that when you press "101" for example,
both boxes do NOT swith to BBC1 simultaneously.

They will surely use different IR codes, as the regular digibox and
Sky+ boxes do.

Of course there is no requirement to have multiroom and the phone
connection at all. You can just pay full price. You are still limited
to 4 cards per account.

Sky CS often have difficulty differentiating between the 4 LNB feeds
on a dish and the 4 boxes that one can have on an account. AFAIK Sky
themselves will only install as many boxes as the standard quad LNB
has feeds for. So 4, or less if 1 or more are Sky+ boxes.

This is the set up I've got but Sky refuse to do more than 2 Sky+ boxes
on one account - Their argument being - it doesn't work with a standard
Sky setup - 4 output LNB - in them supplying an Octo will get over this
- Hopefully!

Thanks

Chris

On the same subject, but really a different thread:

Will the HD box totally replace my existing digibox? Or putting it another
way, will there soon be lots of second hand Sky+ boxes available!

I seem to remember that the HD box would include Sky+ functionality. So yes,
chances are there might be Sky+ boxes for sale.

Be interesting to see what hard disk comes in the HD box, and whether it's
upgradeable or not. Not sure I could go back to just 20 odd hours or
recording time!

"Lots"? Only if lots of Sky+ users take up HD.

Sky are banking on people keeping their Sky+ boxes with their new HD
ones - presumably why they will be using an Octo lnb - I'm hoping that
the IR signals will be different - which seems logical - although the
pictures going around although unclear seem to show a standard Sky+
remote.

The Country seems to have gone slightly HD Obsessive - so my guess is
that Sky will put a fairly high price on early take up - only the
dedicated need apply!! - there will be hitches and glitches before it
levels out.
