intense red distortion/lines on Sony Wega KDF-E50A10

Hi,

We just bought this new Sony HDTV and for a day, it worked fine. Now
there are thousands of horizontal red lines going through the entire
screen. I re-set the TV, it works fine for a few seconds, but then, it
starts to create a red shadow, which moves further and further
downwards until the entire screen is just covered with red
laser-looking lines. Here's what I've done to try and fix it:

Plugged into a different outlet
fiddled with all settings (it happens with antenna, DVD player and the
digital cable box)
moved away all other A/V equipment
Wiggled and checked all connections and proper hookup

I've uploaded a picture to my Yahoo Flickr account, to show what I
mean. Here's the link. Any help would be very much appreciated!!

Return it for exchange and do not let them attempt to 'fix' it. It will
end up as 'B' stock after going to the Sony repair facility. You paid
for a new working TV. Get it.

A definite return for a NEW one. I would NOT let them fix a BRAND NEW tv.

Thanks, I'll do that. We got it at Video Only in Hayward, CA. I
appreciate the encouragement...this way I can stop wasting time trying
to fix settings and get a working one in time for the Super Bowl
party...

I bought the same TV two months ago. No problems so far.

Are you one of the many who claim Sony products are overpriced?
