So now if I want to use autoview to record one of these movies when I
am out I am buggered, is that right? As I unserstand it I cant even
leave the box on that channel as the PIN demand comes up when the
watershed passes.

ISTM you should be able to turn off the pin-requester, especially if
there are no kids in the household.

remove the PIN from existing Sky+ recordings, not from programmes
viewed live - so it will still be impossible to record any
PIN-protected programme from an ordinary Sky box to a VCR. Even if you
are a non-child-owning adult.

wrong way around, once recorded it might be a good idea to need the pin to
wach it.
most wouldn't object to that, but timer recordings - bit stuck with
current method.

I think it was Liverpool who called them Pikies or something? In West
yorks the neighbours kids fitted the description but they didn't seem
to have any particular label - apart from KAPPA! :O))
