Looking for 50" TV in $2k-$3k range
Looking for advice on the above. Man, the choices right now are too
numerous to mention. In this price range, it appears to be either LCD projection or DLP, although if I sprung for some more change, Sony XBDR (or whatever it's called) sounds tempting. I've read a ton about the pros/cons of each technology, and in this price range DLP usually seems to get the nod, but a lot of info doesn't have the latest sets or comprehensive reviews of competing models. This set is for a fairly large room, set-up for Directv HD and dvd movies, with a very nice sound system. Glare is a big concern since the sun comes in directly onto the tv through the windows in the morning. Reliability is key, since my better half likes these toys to last a long time, but we don't overuse it by any means. I noticed in a few posts below people recommending the Sony LCD in this price range, which I thought was interesting. I usually am impressed with the picture quality of Sony, but I had thought LCD had some real drawbacks. So, any advice from the experts here? Either on your recommendation for a model or a source to see fairly comprehensive reviews of current models? Thanks all, Dark Helmet |
