SAMSUNG HCN4226W... Purchased 6/15/04............Died today January 15th 2006 RIP So what's a GOOD LCD?
My Father was a Engineer who worked for RCA, on the side he fixed TV's and
taught me. TV's lasting 15 even 30 years wasn't uncommon, especially for some B&W's. I purchased a Proscan 36" 10 years ago and when that gave up the ghost, I looked at the Samsung. Since I was happy with the DVD players, I figured let me look at the TV's. It got good reviews, but didn't last long now did it. I'm making a service call on Monday to Samsung just to find out how much it will cost me to fix, but honestly I may just take it apart myself and buy a new set. I may go back to the CRT's. (the TV's are pretty much on 24/7) From looking over the DLP's and Plasma.... The lifespan of these two types aren't impressive, the DLP lamp issue is horrid, the LCD's fair better.... and a lot of hype surrounds HDTV. I'm certainly not impressed by it. The GREATEST boost in quality certainly came from dumping cable and going Sat. I've got the CRT's down, but will look at the LCD's. I do like the wall mounting saves a lot of room. I'd stay with the 42 inch area. What does everybody think of the Hitachi, Toshiba's and Panasonics??? |

I don't understand 'back' to CRTs when that Samsung IS a CRT. http://www.globaltechelectronics.com...26W_A_pid_1160 What am I missing? BTW why is it on 24/7? Even if a Samsung DLP reached its projected 8000 hr lamp life, you'd use it up in 11 months. Also, if you DID run the dead one 24/7, you've got over 13000 hrs on it. As of last night, my DLP has 3916 hrs on the original lamp (25 months) but we do turn it off. Good luck on the next one. In your case, buy the extended warranty. GG |

You seem to be missing a great deal kid.... You accept premature equipment
failure! You think that's all good? The Samsung is CRT Rear Projection don't mince words kid. If you didn't know what I was talking about you must be really thick. You offer nothing but try to pat yourself on the back at how smartass and clever you are. I asked What does everybody think of the Hitachi, Toshiba's and Panasonics??? did you answer of course not! all you want to do is bust my chops???? I think when you start paying prices that equal used cars (even new) for a TV, you should expect more. 30K+ life time. This Computer and many, Many more servers and monitors have been on since 1998 24/7. and We can talk thousands......... LCD Monitors and CRT's that have been on since. Don't tell me they can't do it. I know they can. As for 24/7 We had TV Monitors that ran 24/7 for many years. You really must look into manufacturing to extend the life of any non-mechanical device is pennies on the dollar, selection of higher wattage or tighter spec component. The first thing I'm going to do is examine what caused the failure... and if it was related to workmanship or a cheap component failure. I'll rest my case~ It isn't the money, and for you to think that 13000 hours is acceptable life span and brag about your 3900 hr life span. If all you have to offer is your bull****............. then **** off kid! Wow, with apparent anger issues like yours, I would worry more about your
own longevity than that of your particular television. Do you always overreact like this? Not terribly healthy. "1968.9.44.84" wrote in message news:[email protected] Yeah and Remember! Anger Issues? HeCOULD have been helpful instead he offers nothing and then
politely calls me a horses ass........... If anyone has issues it's people like him. Passive aggressive or perhaps Bi-Polar. He takes his time to waste both of ours. Not a productive person at all. So what do you have to add............. not much either! I was simply blowing off some lonely kid who feels like you that he has to say something anything just to make him think he's in the game. Eh Phil? Betcha he owns a Samsuck........ and is simply being defensive. Eh? Phil.... Hope you parents didn't spend to much money on your psychology education! "Phil Ross" wrote in message . .. Hope you parents didn't spend to much money on your psychology education! snip Yes, I own a Samsung and am not being defensive about it or promoting it. I can only state facts about it and make no claims as to general reliablity since I have but 1 and know of 2 friends with the same model, 1 with a bulb failure, the other none so far, like mine. You OTOH have decided that on the basis of one bad Samsung, that ALL of them are bad. If you asked for people who have had problems with any brand, you WILL find some that 'died' prematurely. That tells you very little since you don't know the type of failure, how many were sold etc and also that many people complain loudly when there is a problem but don't tell you when its OK. That's why I mentioned mine as I did. BTW, stating facts isn't bragging. As far as LCDs go, I don' t like direct view units because of color temperature variations vs viewing angle. This is not the case for LCD projectors but now you're back to the lamp life issue again. I know there is an issue with color wheels being moving parts and all but I fully expect that portion to make 15000 hours which I consider adequate life. Thats works out to 4 hrs/day for 10 years. I don't WANT a ten year old TV as the newer ones make a better picture, and that is the whole POINT of a TV. I suspect you're not in California because $0.15 / kWh would get pretty pricy to keep all your gear on all the time. I hope you're feeling better now. GG |

Are you queer for me, looking for a father figure or just following me
around because you're lonely and have nothing better to do? Look I don't give **** to people unless all I get is ****..... Is that tough for you to understand? Eh Einstein??? Just because you see a post are you compulsive enough not to be able to control yourself to post nothing of any value? Has the Ritalin warn off? Get Real Chief, try to find something constructive to do with your time. BTWYM I can walk the walk! "Larry Bud" wrote in message oups.com... 1968.9.44.84 wrote: Anger Issues?
