Cancelling Sky
Got the basic Entetainment package. If I ring Sky up tomorrow will they cut
me off straight away or do I have to give one months notice? I assume that I will then goto 'FreeSat' status? If I wish to resubscribe then can I just do so for a month and then unsubscribe again? Tim |

You have to give a month's notice, so if you ring them today, they'll cut you off one month today. Beware though, if your DD payment is due out in the middle of this period they'll still take a whole month's worth. You have to chase them for the refund. I've been chasing for two months now seven quid that Sky still owe me when I cancelled in November. I assume that I will then goto 'FreeSat' status? Yes, pull the card out now, and you'll get everything you can still view plus C4, C5, and Sky Three. If I wish to resubscribe then can I just do so for a month and then unsubscribe again? I think so, not sure though. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. |

Got the basic Entetainment package. If I ring Sky up tomorrow will they cut me off straight away or do I have to give one months notice? 30 days notice. I assume that I will then goto 'FreeSat' status? Nope. If I wish to resubscribe then can I just do so for a month and then unsubscribe again? Probably not. WHAT YOU WILL FIND HOWEVER is that they may offer you half price subscription for 3 months. Read this. Plenty people have done it. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...html?p=1136799 #post1136799 -- Conor Windows & Outlook/OE in particular, shipped with settings making them as open to entry as a starlet in a porno. Does that mean you could still get the localised transmissions such as BBC Northern Ireland, Channel TV etc? I know it's possible as a subscriber as long as you know the channel numbers to punch in manually. |

Beware though, if your DD payment is due out in the middle of this period they'll still take a whole month's worth. You have to chase them for the refund. I've been chasing for two months now seven quid that Sky still owe me when I cancelled in November. I am currently paying for my ex-girlfriend's Sky subscription. Sky want the consent of the householder before they will cancel my subscription, but that will not be forthcoming, and the householder is not the bill payer. Surely this can not be right. As the bill payer surely it is up to me what I do or do not want to pay for? If Sky refuse again to accept my instructions to cancel my subscription what can I do? I could instruct my bank to cancel the direct debit, but would Sky sting me for breach of contract? How much more money will that cost me? Am I safe if I send my instructions to cancel to Sky in writing, and then cancel the direct debit? Whatever the outcome, I think my experience should be a warning to anyone thinking of taking out a Sky subscription to think twice before they do. One always assumes that it will be possible to cancel at any time, but this is clearly not the case. If my experience is anything to go by then if you think you may need to cancel your subscription at a future date, it could be wiser not to subscribe to Sky at all. At present British Sky Broadcasting have effectively uncontrolled access to my bank account and I cannot stop them from taking my money, seriously. Be warned! If you're paying YOU have the right to cancel ! Simply cancel the DD and if Sky contact you just ask them to contact the householder not you as you only did it as a favour for the householder....Stuff em' Better still, Mention why should you pay for Sky and not actually receive the service then demand they supply you with equipment to receive it so you can cancel legally if they insist you do so. ( The only proble with monopolies like Sky,They think they force people to pay) You could always have a word with Trading Standards too. T.W. |
