I originally posted this in uk.d-i-y yesterday but have been advised
that its probably more appropriate to post here.

I'm currently having an extension built to my house which will mean that
I will have to relocate my existing roof tv aerial. As I have Sky, I
don't actually use this aerial. So, this all got me thinking that maybe
I should get a new aerial and somehow get tv pumped around the rooms in
the new extension.

Other points to consider are whether or not you want to relay the output from
you sky box to other rooms in your house, would you ever want to have an
additional satellite box, or a twin tuner satellite receiver such as Sky+. If so
you might want to install additional cabling now.

Ok got you. I've got Sky+ in the lounge and another Sky box upstairs. It
would make perfect sense to incorporate these into the setup!

Another question, what would be the best way to change channels on the
setup?

I also have an aerial socket on the wall downstairs which is unused and
one other in the bedroom. The bedroom one is particularly naff, so my
ideal solution would incorporate all five rooms.

ooh, now you're asking.... I think so but TBH can't confirm as the whole
cabling system's in bits just now as I try to work out how to wire in my
new DVD recorder (watch out for a post for help on that when I finally
give up in despair!)

One other thing you could do, as its a new build, is put in some trunking
from the loft to each room say two per room. Then if you need to install
some extra cables say for PC networking or for device "X" then you might
make it a lot simpler than it would be without the trunking. That well known
law of S*d will make certain that the trunking is not in the right place,
but atleast you will have tried!

That's actually a great idea. I never even thought about PC networking!
It would make sense to get all that gear fitted now.

I'll have to think about the trunking and how it might be used.
