Are they from Lidl or such how much were they there?
Any web site giveing reviews?
Not after a rolls royce a cheapy that works will suit my purpose.
Ads. say they can be 'patched to get some encded stations', can I read about
this anywhere, is it easy to do?
thanks
David

Its a nice well featured receiver and if you bought it from LIDL
comes with a three year warranty. If you buy it from a spiv who
cleaned out the store guess its a less cheap nice free to air
satellite receiver without a warranty.

At present it seems the hacked firmware is only available for the
previous model, the SL55.

I've got a Lidl comag SL65, yes it's good, and the "blind scan"
capability is particularly useful!

Note that, there's no UHF modulator, but there's 2 SCART connectors,
tv/video. Also digital audio and S VHS.

Note also, the software is quite crash prone, but then you just reboot
it, takes maybe 30 secs.

(apparently you can update software via satellite, though I haven't
tried it).

Official support via Comag website: www.comag-ag.de

The Lidl Silver Crest receiver was sold (Aug 05) in two forms.

1. A complete kit incl 60 cm dish for Astra satellite (BBC type
stations). This kit cost 59.99 UKP

2. As separates suitable for other satellites with greater diversity
of stations such as Hotbird.
Prices we
Receiver SilverCreast DVB-S SL65 price 39.99
Dish (larger size) 80 cm 14.99
Dish wall bracket 2.99
LBN 3.99
Finder 3.99
(Satellite aerial cable - not included will cost around 10 pounds in
B&Q warehouses) So the total kit price this way was around 70 UKP.

You should also note that Lidl subsequently marketed a terrestrial
receiver with the same model number - the DVB-T SL65 -just to make
things confusing.

Lidl also sold a portable kit suitable for caravaners etc.

The satellite receivers appear to come out once a year in the summer,
though when I made enquiry, the advisor said they would be out again
before Christmas -well that didn't happen - so who knows.

My SL65 in daily use (turned off at night) has not crashed since
installed last summer.

None at Bradford, only one staff member and he was on the check so could not
enquire.
Anyone know of any in the north, say West Yorkshire.
