remote control batteries

Has anyone tried lithium batteries in their remote controls? Are they worth their
additional cost (compared to alkaline)? How about rechargeable NiMH?

The problem with NiMH is that they lose their charge rather fast (let's
say a month or two) even if not used, hence using them in low drain
appliances such as watches or remote controls is generally not
recommended. Alkaline batteries would be better here, IMO.

Mine came with a lithium cell and a recharging cradle.
