has anybody had any problems with a Daewoo ds700 freeview box not switching
on? I've had one a about 6 months and I have had no problems since I got it
up until Tuesday night. when there was what I can only describe as I power
interruption that lasted about 1/2 second. since then the box will not come
out of stand by. has anybody any idea what the problem is. all the other
electrical equipment in the house is still working even including the other
freeview box I have which is a old nokia on digital box which I cant
remember the model number of.

Have you done the obvious and tried 'completely disconnecting' it from the
mains for a few minutes, and then re-attempting to get it out of standby?

I've tried that it was one of the first things I tried.

In which case with the standby light still on it would indicate that
(assuming that the power supply is of the switch mode variety) there is a
good chance that its running OK, but not being pulled out of standby by the
processor, due to some kind of corruption or maybe even failure.

As I've never had any dealings with that particular model (only the DS 608)
I can't honestly suggest much else, other than there maybe a way of
resetting it by holding down a specific button whilst powering up.

Perhaps someone else on this group with experience of this particular model
may be able to offer a bit more help. With the 608 I've had similar symptoms
caused by failure of C101 in the power supply.

Don't overlook the battery in the remote control. It may be getting
towards the end of its life and only allow the remote to work when warn
or if left to let the battery recover slightly.
