XM Canada and SIRIUS Canada unveils lineup
No one in canada has time to listen to the radio they wouldn't listen to it
if it were free. I give them 3 months of kidding themselves before they file for bankruptcy up in canada. There is such a thing as a field study which sirius has obviously never heard about. This will make the white stores in america look like the biggest windfall ever. Remember field studies. If they sell one subscription it's one more than they should. I for one cant wait for the receivers to go on sale, and I will gladly pay
the $15 a month to subscribe. I commute nearly 2 1/2 hours a day round trip, and I take routes that take me from near Guelph to Hamilton, so traffic reports every 5 minutes about the 401 or Don Valley parkway or Islington and Bloor don't really interest me. I wake up to 680News, so I already know what happened while I was sleeping, and don't need a recap every 30 minutes. I have never been influenced by the commercials I hear, not having purchased Sleep Country Matresses, AlarmForce Home Security Systems and do not suffer from mental depression that I need to listen to former loser heroin skanks whine about wrong coices they made in life but how CAMH helped them. I just want to listen to music, uninterrupted, for the nice leisurly drive through the Halton Hills while go to and from work. Satellite Radio is my salvation. Pop the unit in, tune to all jazz, and thats it...no irritating DJ's talking about **** I don't care about, no commercials, no traffic, weather and news updates, just music. If it only lasts a year, which I doubt, it will be one year of bliss. It's these same people who purchased ExpressVU and StarChoice systems to get TV that wasn't available in their rural areas. With no Howard Stern there is no reason to buy a Canadian Sirius radio.
Both XM and Sirius are struggling to make a profit in the US so good luck in Canada. It is a better product then the crap that is on free radio right now but unless they are charging less then $8 a month most Canadians that are cheap would pass. |

Exactly right on Stern. I'd have paid $20 a month to Sirius Canada if they
were caryring Stern. But I knew they wouldn't, THEY knew all along they wouldn't and I just went and got set up with the REAL Sirius so I can continue to listen. Thanks CBC-you're ****ing your own success in the ass because you don't want Stern. I'm in Canada, I'm still going to get him and you guys aren't seeing a cent of my money. Yet somehow douchebags like Opie and Anthony WILL be on the air in Canada. And I don't understand why people like the idea of satellite radio as opposed to downloading a ton of music onto an MP3 player that, when you hear a song that grates on you, can be skipped. Satellite radio is great in the fact that you can set a channel before driving and listen to a "play list" without fumbling around with the equipment so much. And I have all my presets ready to go too. Some of you MIGHT be great at multi-tasking while you are driving in heavy traffic.Speaking for myself though,I would rather NOT be around you when you do it though. I almost got hit 2 weeks ago by some woman talking on a cell phone and not paying attention. CD "popping",MP3 playlist selection and tape juggling are all part and parcel of the same thing. The SIMPLER the better, operations wise. |

Ummmm, I'm turning 37 on Thursday (I'll let you wish me a Happy Birthday on
the 24th, unless you want to now). I'm 14, 000 in debt on a Pres. Choice Mastercard, own a house that is bleeding me dry (which is partly why I said, in the firstplace, that downloadnig is better: cheaper) and I have a family, as well as an 70 pound ball of passive-agressive Chow Chow. As for the demanding boss and inability to get it up-don't have that problem... er, yet. As for time, I believe it was Shakespeare (or maybe it was Chris Elliot) who once said 'Those who have no time never seem to do anything with it... ' OK, I honestly don't remember the quote, but it was basically that it's EASY to find the time and the people that complain most about NOT having time are the ones doing the least with the time they have. with a pretty extensive collection of mps and a good mp3 player (some can
handle up to 30000 song on hd) you can have all the musiq you like, and with the random feature on those device, you will never hear the same song all the time... there are even ways of having random songs but of just a few chosen styles..and you can put many type of styles to a single song... lets say in the ghetto from Elvis ,can be tagged as ,Elvis,ballad,70's now if you do something like that you will have your own xm radio service inside your car, wont have to pay a service fee,and if there are some song that you really like from local people ,not known to the great American people, well you will be able to listen to those song too... now I know I was steering the pot... with my 2 liner.. cause you asked for it..when stating that xm radio or Sirius would be such a great thing..when in fact its only a damn way for by corporation to control what you listen to... "****turd"? Is that the extend or you communication skills or was that
actually over your level and you had to look that up? As far as my opinion about the DJs, it applies to the channels I listen to and is accurate. Music choice had no talking on the channels I listened to and XM does. It has also gotten worse over the coarse of the last several years. That is a matter of how it is and not just my opinion. As far as the stations I don't listen to, I could care less cause I don't listen to them. But please don't allow facts to get in the way of expressing your opinions with all those communication skills you are acquiring. It would be a shame to think some one else disagrees with you and becomes a "****turd". "Freddy" wrote in message .. . See what i mean? from what I can read, your hooked up on it..
on my side, while I am on the mood for blues I don't want to hear any wannabe dj telling me stuff I already know about such and such,so radio is for me more annoying then pleasant ..and when I want to hear news...am radio is the place to listen, free and all the news you want... of course the sound is not so great, but this will be local news, not news coming from one single feed, and for national news only. I am on the road about 6 hour a day,I have connected my laptop(witch is a helping me with mapping and gps too) on my car audio system,I watch some DVD or downloaded film during my lunch hour, if I am not wardriving.. all this and I don't have to pay for a monthly fee,of course I did had to pay for the laptop..but I had to anyway for my job..(tax deductible too!) So xm radio,Sirius are not what I call an interesting service for me.. The thing is, that the service is satellite RADIO, not satellite music. It was *never* meant to replace the CD player or iPod. On the music channels, you have announcers throwing in a bit of chatter now and then. They'll do stuff like lead in with some history or interesting story about the song or artist they're going to play. A lot of the stations have their own and 'fillers'. For example, when you listen to the 70's channel on Sirius it's really a 70's channel with the 70's style 'jingles'. I prefer this to the sterile perfectly spaced songs you hear on an iPod. Not only that, but there is way more than just 'music'. They also have News, Comedy, Children's programming, Sports (Talk and game broadcasts) and a bunch of other 'entertainment' style channels.. You even hear the odd live concert.. It's not just 'music' :-) Both Sirius and XM stream their programming and you can 'try them out' on their websites. You should sign up for a free demo and see what you're missing. |

Personally, the lack of Stern is a semi-positive thing for me -- I don't intend to listen to him... However, I'd be willing to pay exactly what I pay for Shaw's digital music (which is both mtrax and galaxie): $1.99/month. I don't really need portability, I just want digital music in my house. If the programming is substantially better, I'll look into it, but otherwise, why bother? -- "NEWS SERVERS ARE NOT POWER BY HAMSTERS" -- rfgdxm/Robert F. Golaszewski |
