Sony charging more for Internrt?
Caught the end of a bussiness news item today.
Can anyone one fill us in please? I heard it said a complaint to some tradeing body had been made against Sony. It said they charge up to 15% more to supply goods to Internet retailers. Also they were giving discounts to shops. -- Regards David Please reply to News Group |

Story's he http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4438298.stm Thanks. Well sounds unfair to me. But near me I have a large retailer (Empire) who also runs a large internet site. Wonder how he goes on. If he buys all items through the shop at lower price the ones he sells via internet site he will have an unfair advantage over internet only retailers. -- Regards David Please reply to News Group |

They aren't actually charging more to internet shops - they are just giving less of a discount because they aren't showing the goods in a shop - this is apparently quite legal. - Simon. |

I wouldn't put anything past Sony these days, after the recent scandal of them installing rootkits (a common virus technique) on PCs from their audio CDs, then denying there was a problem, and refusing to provide a way to uninstall them. |

What does displaying something in the shop have to do with the suppliers who don't even own the shop. It doesn't cost the suppliers anything to display something in a shop and the retailer done have to pay the suppliers in order to do so. Its a con and everyone knows it and the EU should do something to stop it. - Simon. |

All businesses are the same, none of them can be trusted and they all try and pull the wool over our eyes. --- avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean. Now who was it actually managed to find what they wanted, in stock, in the correct model type, colour etc, in the local shops? I've long since become fed up with paying for petrol and parking, not to mention a couple of hours of my time, to look for something that I've read about but the shops haven't got or don't even know about, or perhaps could order for me if I was prepared to make another trip into town the following week, though they can't promise exactly when it would be, so I've stopped doing it. I don't need an excuse. Conventional shops need to wake up to reality or go out of business. Rod. |
