Enough of Sky???

I am almost fed up with Sky.

What other options are there, using the sat dish and sky plus box.

Freeview from Sky?

What do the BBC offer?

sensible information gratefully received.

If you cancel your subscription with them (30 days notice) after 30 days
your current card will revert to "freesat" staus. No need top purcahse any
more cards from them...despeite what some of the CS will tell you.

Sky without subscriptions ....

Well, yes, if your package subscriptions cease, then the card reverts
to "Freesat", which at the moment won't get
More4/Ch4/Ch5/E4/Sky1,2,Travel, etc (I thought Sky contracts were 1
year min, 30 days's cancellation is new to me, help, it's all changing
so fast now .... ).

The current alternative is Ch4/Ch5 on analogue tv, and the Freeview
system. Whether you can get Freeview very much depends on where you
happen to live, and may well require a roof aerial upgrade. However, at
least the receivers are cheap enough (includes Topup tv, of course,
some "Freeview" subscription channels with a card slot receiver)!

There's also non UK satellite, which has just a few English free to air
channels (CNBC, Bloomberg, MTV German subtitiled), and lots of European
channels, you can see loadsa newish Hollywood films dubbed into German,
Italian, etc ........ The equipment for this isn't ecpensive, and
fairly easily installed DIY.

You are incorrect here spiney- Freesat cards WILL get Ch4 & Ch5. Ex
subscription cards that revert to "Freesat" staus will also eneable viewing
of Ch4 & Ch5.

It will also get the new Sky 3 (ch 108) which is FTV.

Yes it will.
In fact there are only three "real" FTV channels now: C4, C5 and Sky
Three.

Nothing has changed. The minimum sub is 1 year, and cancellation
requires 30 days notice.

Apology ......... Dewi (and thanks artnada, joemtim).

Of course you're right, sorry, I don't know why I wrote that!

Freesat certainly includes Ch4/Ch5, as correctly said (in fact, pretty
much the whole point of it!).

I must have been daydreaming!
