System reset
As an adjunct to my thread 'Fit larger disk to Sky+', I'm at the
planning stage and I've had a look at the installer menu to ensure I can get in, but if I access Full System reset is it going to go ahead and do a reset or can I back out? I'm checking this stuff on my box, not my wife's and I don't want to foul up my new box. Where can I find more detail about using the installer menu? OK I'm aware of the risks involved but I may need to do a system reset or planner rebuild at some time and I'd rather clue up now! -- Mike Gasson (from the Isle of Purbeck) |

As you probably know its services then 401 select then you can check out the options available. Selecting them gives you a 'do you really want to do this?' type of box to choose yes (select) or no (backup) so there isnt much point selecting them unless you want to do it, and there is no more info there, not that you need it, because there arent any parameters to choose or anything like that. -- Tumbleweed email replies not necessary but to contact use; tumbleweednews at hotmail dot com |

OK thanks, I didn't want to set something off that I couldn't get out of. As long as I get a backup or carryon option. that's fine! So if I do a system reset does it clear all recorded stuff and clean the disk? -- Mike Gasson (from the Isle of Purbeck) |

So if I do a system reset does it clear all recorded stuff and clean the disk? There is (IIRC as I cant check it out right now), a system install, which I suppose initialises a new disk (never used that), a system rebuild which initialises a crapped up disk (and in the process deletes everything), and a planner rebuild which *should* leave existing recordings alone and just clean up the free space. -- Tumbleweed email replies not necessary but to contact use; tumbleweednews at hotmail dot com |
