NO HDTV for Florida vs Tennessee on Sept 20 2003
Well this finalizes it.....
http://www.sportsline.com/u/cbs/sports/ For all the rabid UT and Florida fans out there, they are not going to broadcast this weekends game in HDTV. Get your CBS flames ready and let them have it. They have chosen to do HDTV for Georgia vs LSU, two great SEC teams too, but they do not have the following UT and Florida do, nor the intesity of our rivalry. Looks like I'll be watching this years battle in standard definition. If you want to let CBS have it...here is their feedback page for CBS Sports. http://www.sportsline.com/help/contactus You do not need a sportsline ID |

Obviously they have limited resources to do HD so they had to make a choice. #7 vs #10 or #12 vs #17. Seems pretty straightforward to me. I grew up in Baton Rouge and have lived in Gainesville for 4 years so I am very familiar with the rivalries and rabidness of the fans in the SEC. Everyone thinks their team has the greatest fans and their rivalries are the most intense. Among the teams listed, the followings are pretty similar. The nuts here in Gainesville are only marginally more so than those in BR. The rest of the country just wants to see the best game. The thing to flame them about is that all of their production is not in HD. Leonard Caillouet |

The hurricane coming up may not hit Florida, but the surrounding eye of the storm sure make it likely it won't happen. I just moved to knoxville for graduate school. My home school, Penn State puts these guys to shame, maybe not colors, but the partying sure isn't the same. I said my piece. |

CBS has a contract to cover the SEC. So who do you think the HD game will be? Yep the SEC. Right now HD broadcast cameras, transmission support gear, and all the other stuff needed to broadcast a HD sporting event is a major cash out lay. (I'm a broadcast engineer and in the process of pricing that stuff for the station I work for) So give them a break. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =----- |
Leonard,
Yep...ticked that they are not covering my game and..... I agree with your reasoning, I do think the polls are why CBS is doing this. However, isn't some of the idea to get HDTV to be more popular with the masses. I would almost bet (I do not know where we can get our hands on the numbers) that many more eyes will be on TN vs Florida than the other game despite the rankings. More people seeing HDTV = more people impressed with it = more people intereseted in geting it = more HDTV right? Yep....Penn State has had Tennessee's number one of the only big 10
teams we consistently have trouble with. Robert if you just got there you have not been infected yet....go to a few games while you are in school...good chance you will eventually become a TN fan as well (2nd to Penn State of course) I went to UT for undergrad and was hardly even a football fan (lived in Hawaii for most of my life...football not as big out there). After a friend dragged me to a few games at Neyland I started to really get into it and become a huge fan. You are dead on about the partying if you are saying Knoxiville has died down a bit. The local police have cracked down pretty hard on the school and the clubs around it. It used to be crazy up in Knoxville after games.....now it is very calm and quite out on the strip. I doubt it will ever go back to they way it was. "Robert Bennett" wrote in message . .. "Leonard Caillouet" wrote in message news:[email protected] "Cpat" wrote in message om...
