twin tuner. dvd. pvr?

Is it possible to buy a twin tuner freeview pvr with integral dvd
recorder? (I presume I need twin tuners to watch and record different
channels?)

I have looked at the Topfield but it has no dvd?

Alas, no.

Yes - unless, of course, you have another cheapo set-top box as well.

Correct. Though with some jiggery-pokery you can transfer a recording
on the Topfield to your PC (or Mac) and burn it to DVD.

Well yes, I do. But I presume from your reply that you can't buy a
single-tuner Freeview pvr/dvdr either?

(Many thanks, by the way).

You're welcome! As John has said, yes, there are single-tuner PVRs,
but the market seems to be moving to twin-tuner models. My advice is
to buy a twin-tuner; it won't be long before you want to record two
things at the same time - and having the set-top box connected to any
steam-driven VCR you still have lying around will give you the option
of three recordings at once. The time will come, believe me!

Decent programmes these days are like busses - you wait ages and then
three come along at once!

I think it has only happend once with me, but I remeber several years ago I
recorded 4 programmes at the same time. I can't remeber whether they were
all worth watching when I played them back. ;-)

Actually, it happens several times a week, at 9pm. On the
Freeview channels, there is usually a choice of films plus
popular serials and new documentaries, and sometimes live
sport. Thursday night, for example, had Spooks, Horizon and
UEFA Cup football, and that's only for the men.
Fortunately, most of the programmes on the Freeview-only
channels get repeated, often later the same night.

I watched Spooks last week on BBC3, as you say, these days a lot of
programmes are repeated quickly.
