Because the people who run TV companies don't have a clue about how technology, encryption, Sky and the broadcasting industry actually works. They are rather good at buying designer goods and attending champagne lunches though. At quick glance at the history of digital satellite in the UK will reveal nothing but a catalogue of errors and incompetence on the part of just about everyone who has dealings with Murdoch but who doesn't work for him. And those who work for him aren't much better. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these.
