ITV News and Sky News on Freeview
 

There was talk some time back of both ITV News and Sky News going widescreen
on Freeview. Certainly hasn't happened here (Pontop Pike transmitter) yet.
Anyone have any information?

Sky News should be going widescreen on the 24th October. ITV News has got
more chance of being dropped from the platform altogether than going
widescreen any time soon.

Sky News should be going widescreen on the 24th October. ITV News has got
more chance of being dropped from the platform altogether than going
widescreen any time soon.

When is UKTVHistory going to follow ?

I've seen ITV News outputting a 16:9 descriptor recently, obviously the
material was still 4:3 and not ARC'd so it was squished, however the ITV1
news is now 16:9 so it isn't beyond the realms of possibility. They only
need to drop an ARC on the end and crop the hell out the picture and pretend
it's 16:9, as like ITV1 :)

Wait a couple of weeks and it will be.

In the mean time I wish they would display it correctly at 4:3,
rather than letting millions of people think the presenters are big
heads.... Oops, forgot, that is exactly what they do think they are!

Let us make this less ambiguous: the ITV News CHANNEL is not currently
broadcast in widescreen, though the ITV News programme on ITV1 is, oddly.
