I am not saying it does not work for say 65% of those that use it. I am

Judging by 1,000's of postings since 1998, 8VSB works perfectly for about
85%, and 10% simply have low transmitter power levels, 5% have other
difficult technical problems.

We're very happy that the good 'ol USA chose robust and sensible 8VSB and
ignored frail, flaky and feeble cofdm.

They're using 6 MHz in Taiwan and Japan with no complaints and it sure works

And the rest of us who get beautiful HDTV with 8-VSB must live in
neverland. I'm watching it now. Are you?

The problem with Bob's claims are that he claims that 8VSB doesn't work,
but it works VERY VERY well. There are cases where COFDM doesn't work
well and there are individual cases where 8VSB doesn't work well. Given
the mix of cable, satellite and OTA in the US, 8VSB does a better job of
complimenting other delivery systems.

Nor does COFDM (think fringe areas, impulse interference in homes, etc.)

Bottome line, COFDM vs. 8VSB is a set of tradeoffs, and the tradeoffs
are relatively narrow. Frankly, most of the complaints made against
8VSB are more useful as anti-HDTV propaganda (in the US: misuse of
spectrum for max-headroom forced advertising advocacy.)

Did you call Harris or their COFDM branch ITIS? Itis is where all their
COFDM fools hang out.

Remember: everyone is susceptable to unethical influences from
FUDSTERS like you and your benefactors.

As you argue, I watch this new season of BEAUTIFUL HDTV, over
ATSC, with indoor antenna, one station is 19kW across town,
other stations are between 12miles and 35miles away.

The proof of the pudding is in the watching of HDTV.
