Missed Ending
 

Sky+ set to record six feet under on E4 via series link, this week the
recording stopped before the end of the episode ffs, the length was
showing 63mins ?? Any ideas what may have caused it ?

****ty box, crap software, act of God? Seems like this is a reoccuring
problem with $ky+ boxes - glad I don't have one.

Box is a nice white Pace one, not ****ty at all
Software...crap maybe, but worked on 99 other recordings this month
Act of God....Doubt it very much
Speaking to Sky....They are glad you dont have a box as well.

More than likely E4 were running late and the now and next data which
can over ride the EPG listing was not adjusted by the broadcasters to
reflect this so the SKY+ stopped recording exactly when it was told to.

More than likely E4 were running late and the now and next data which
can over ride the EPG listing was not adjusted by the broadcasters to
reflect this so the SKY+ stopped recording exactly when it was told to.

I went into my settings and the add time before and after recordings are
both set to Automatic. How long is 'Automatic' and is it worth while
changing it to 10 minutes after to make sure this doesnt happen again ?

The AUTO setting should in theory be around 2 minutes either side but has
the ability to be flexible IF the n&n data tells it to, so in effect making allowances
for a program running ahead or behind time.
If you set a fixed amount of padding then the n&n data should be ignored but
you can then run into problems with multiple recordings if some are back to
back and spread across various channels.

Fixed padding times are universal so you'll get that setting on all your recordings,
if that is not a problem that by all means go ahead. If it is you could just record
6FU and the program after it via the planner or use the manual option.
Neither is ideal but alas many broadcasters do not make full use of the SKY+
abilities when it comes to more or less real-time EPG and n&n updating.

We had the same problem, so we set it to record 10 minutes at the beginning
and the same at the end. We have to fast forward it a bit but at least we
don't miss the start or end now!!

E4 transmitted it late and didnt bother updating the EPG, nothing to do with
S+.
