Moving House......

Hi all.

I currently have sky multiroom and Sky plus. I'll be moving in a couple of
months and Sky have said they have an offer on at the mo where for 40 quid
they'll move all my equipment to the new house. Seems like a good deal. But,
is there anything to stop me cancelling it all, and when we move have the
wife set up a new account, thereby getting all new equipment too?

Thanks

Nothing to stop you doing that providing you are out of contract of the
current setup. But I wonder if you would be paying more by setting up a new
account seeing as you have all the equipment?

They might recognise Johnny8977 closing an account
and Johnny8977 claiming to be a new customer.

Thats not against the regulations though is it? It would be a problem if he
was still within contract trying to get out of the contract.

Thats why I thought to do it under the wifes name, just to avoid any
possible hassle. the contract, I think by the time I move it'll just be
up. If it isn;t, can I say to cancel it and I'll still pay the outstanding
time? I presume that would be OK because they are still getting their money.

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to pay the £40 and have them move it for
you?

You are making it complicaed.

I presume you have a good reason for wanting new equipment!

You would be surprised how many people pay off the contract,
without first reducing subscription to lowest level first.

This doesn't avoid anything. The Sky T&Cs use the word "household"
which includes both you and your wife.

However in practice they won't know that you will be breaking the
T&Cs.

But when a couple move they are in a new house and that is a new household.
There is nothing to stop someone cancelling and then a few months later
decide they cannot live without sky.
I think the term household in the terms and conditions relate not only to
that household but that address.

False. "Household" in this context is a specifically defined term in
bold text in Sky's contract. I suggest you read it!

Nope.

So you are saying that somebody could cancel sky, move house then 6 months
later cannot get sky because they were a previous customer?
